Intercontinental Mining is a Barite Mining Company of High Grade/High Quality Barite for the Global Oil Services Industry & Oil Drillers in: Kazakhstan, Russia, China, India, Canada & The United States of America. Established in 1996, The Company Develops a Barite Deposit to Feed the Global Oil Demand.

The mining company, founded in 1996 provides superior customer service and tremendous value for the oil industry with high grade Specific gravity‎: ‎4.2–5 American Petroleum Institute specification API 13/ISO 13500. высокое качество, высокий класс барит для бурения нефтяных скважин компании.

The ground barite also must be dense enough so that its specific gravity is 4.2 or greater, soft enough to not damage the bearings of a tricone drill bit, chemically inert, and containing no more than 250 milligrams per kilogram of soluble alkaline salts.

In August 2010 API (American Petroleum Institute) published specifications to modify the 4.2 drilling grade standards for barite to include 4.1 SG materials.

A high-purity form of barite is used in the gastrointestinal tract where its density prevents x-ray penetration, and thus is visible on an x-ray.  The outline of the gastrointestinal tract thus becomes visible allowing the determination of normal and abnormal anatomy.

Currently there are no producing high grade industrial mines in Canada and only one small low grade industrial grade producer in the USA. All of the API (oil-field) grade barite that is produced to market in Canada and the USA is controlled by the large energy service companies.
The industrial high-grade barite market in Canada & the US is approximately 400,000 tonnes/year. It is predominantly imported from China. Industrial high grade powdered barite currently sells for between $500 US and $2000 US per tonne FOB the West Coast.
Pricing for Alberta retail oil-field barite is (CAD) $420 per/tonne (central Alberta retail
prices as of Q1 2017.)
